The NFL will have a rare Saturday game this week and it’s a good one. After Indy stayed undefeated on Thursday night, the focus now shifts to the Saints on Saturday.

The Dallas Cowboys are in the Bayou to play New Orleans Saints. Online Betting SPORTSBETTING.com currently has the visitor as 8-point underdogs with an Over/under of 54.

The Cowboys were in good shape not too long ago, on a 6-2 run (straight up) through October and November but have begun, what seems to be, their annual December swoon.

In their last 12 games in the last month of the year, Dallas is an atrocious 1-11 against the spread.

As you would expect, they have not fared well on the road in December, stumbling to a 2-9 mark in their last 11 and are currently on an 0-6 ATS skid in their last six.

Tony Romo and company haven’t fared much better against the Saints, with a record of 1-6 ATS in their last seven overall vs. New Orleans.

At the Superdome, Dallas is 1-5 ATS last six.

Total bettors take note, the last five matchups between these two in New Orleans have produced five straight Unders.

The Saints have been flying high throughout the season, obviously, as they own a polished 13-0 mark.

SPORTSBETTING.com currently has a cool prop bet on: New Orleans is listed at +150 to finish the regular season with a 16-0 record.

In their last 20 when favored by 8-points or less, the Saints are marching, with a record of 15-5 ATS and in their last 10 games against opponents from the NFC East, New Orleans has produced eight straight Overs.

The Saints’ last 10 home games, the Over has cashed seven times.

The sports betting public have been jumping on the home team, with 80% of all the action so far coming in on New Orleans.

This should be an entertaining game, as the Saints try and keep pace with the Colts in the run to go undefeated.

- Week 15 will conclude when the New York Giants travel to the nation’s capital to play the Washington Redskins — the G-Men are favored by a field goal with a Total of 44.

There seems to be just as much disarray amongst the Redskins’ front office as there is on the field.

The team has a regular season record of 4-9 while a new GM was hired on Thursday in the form of Bruce Allen, son of late, great Redskins coach George Allen.

The ‘Skins have gone 3-6 SU and ATS the last nine times they’ve hosted the Giants and the last eight times the G-Men have visited, the Over has cashed six times.

The New York football Giants have shot themselves in the foot when it comes to their playoff hopes, going 2-6 SU in their last eight.

Still, the NYG are in hot pursuit of a Wild Card berth and are 7-2 SU and ATS in their last nine when favored by 4-points or less.

Online Betting sportsbooks are reporting the action favoring the Giants, with 75% of the money coming in on the visitor so far.

-          Win $100.00! You can add some excitement to betting on Giants game and other games by playing the free “Pick The Winners” contest. Pick 5 winning teams and pocket a free $50.00.

NFL Football Betting

Posted by: | Comments (0)

If you bet on sports, there’s a good chance that you bet on football. Football betting accounts for about 40% (estimated) of all sports betting annually. A good portion of that goes into the NFL. Every season people rush to their favorite sports book off or online to make a wager. One of the most common wagers in NFL football is the parlay bet. People love winning big and the parlays give you the opportunity to win many times your original wager. However, many NFL football bettors walk away with losing tickets.

Can you make money betting on the NFL? Any professional sports bettor will sound off with a resounding yes answer. It’s been widely estimated and quoted that only 1% of sports bettors win on a consistent basis. If this is accurate, why is it so? One reason could be a lack of understanding of the game of NFL football. Another reason could be the lack of understanding of what a line really is.

If you are finding yourself constantly picking the losing team or just coming up short for a nice parlay win, give point totals a try. Many feel that betting on totals is a much easier game than picking sides. When you bet a totals line, you are betting on the total number of points scored between both teams during the game (regular time and over time). For instance, if the line was 38.5, you could wager on the under or over. Bet on the over and you want both teams to score 39 points or more—so you win. Bet on the under and you want both teams to score 38 points or less.

There are sports bettors out there who make a living off of totals lines. Some feel that there is less handicapping time involved as well. This means you can handicap more game, look for sweet lines and spend your time doing other things. It’s also possible to bet totals lines for just the quarters or the halves. For example, if a totals line is 40, the under/over for the first half might be 20. Furthermore, the line for the first quarter might be 8 or so. Typically the second and fourth quarter lines are larger than the first and third quarter lines.

The next time you sit down to make a wager on NFL football, give some thought to the totals line. It just might swing you into the winning column. If you are already a winning NFL sports bettor who’s not playing totals much, check them out. You should be able to add to your profits. There’s a reason why football betting is so big. It’s fun and profitable.

NFL Football Betting Power Rankings Week 13:

Any doubts that the Saints were the best team in the league certainly went out the window after their Monday night shellacking of the Patriots. MVP candidate Drew Brees played arguably the best game of his career in the Saints’ biggest game of the season. They remain at the peak of the WEEI NFL Power Rankings.

The Bengals jump two spots and leap into the top five after completing a sweep of the AFC North with a win over Cleveland on Sunday. The Bengals now have the luxury of having one of the best 1-2 running back combinations in the league when Cedric Benson returns on Sunday.

The Patriots are looking up at three AFC teams that now have better records than them. The embarrassing loss to the Saints has many questioning if the Patriots can actually compete with the top teams in the NFL.

Arguably the best story of the year is the Titans’ resurgence. Five straight wins for the Vince Young-led Titans and they continue to move up the ladder. Despite having a worse record than some teams behind them, the Titans stand tall at No. 12. The rankings aren’t based on records, they are based on how teams currently are performing, and Tennessee can compete with anyone right now.

1. (Last week, 1) 11-0 A dominating performance for the best team in the NFL. Monday night’s blowout of the Patriots was a statement to the rest of the league. Drew Brees and the offense moved the ball with ease, while the defense pressured Brady and held Randy Moss and Wes Welker to a combined nine catches.

2. (2) 11-0 The Colts have come back in the fourth quarter in five straight games. They don’t get frazzled in crunch time, they get better. A true sign of a championship team. Congrats to the 2009 AFC South champs.

3. (3) 10-1 Brett Favre has thrown just three interceptions all year and leads the league in passer rating. The Vikings remain unbeaten at home after demolishing the Bears. Favre is a true MVP candidate.

4. (6) 8-3 The Larry Johnson signing really paid off for the Bengals on Sunday. Props go to Marvin Lewis for preparing this team and putting Cincinnati in a position to win each week. This team is soaring with confidence.

5. (5) 8-3 The Chargers started the season 2-3 and now are contending for a first-round playoff bye in the AFC. It has been a great turnaround for the San Diego defense, which forced four turnovers in the win over the Chiefs Sunday.

6. (4) 7-4 The Patriots looked silly against the Saints. They need to improve on both sides of the ball if this team expects to contend for a Super Bowl. The red zone offense has been mediocre at best and the defense has looked awful against strong offenses.

7. (7) 7-4 The Cardinals ran into one of the hottest teams in the league without their starting quarterback. Arizona’s run game is improving week after week, and that has been the one thing the Cardinals have been without for most of the season. With a solid run game, Kurt Warner and the Cards could be a tough team to beat down the stretch.

8. (8) 8-3 Tony Romo is known for struggling in December, and the Cowboys’ schedule gets tougher going forward. The next three games (at Giants, vs. Chargers, at Saints) will show how good this Cowboys team really is.

9. (9) 7-4 The Eagles have a big game in Atlanta on Sunday and will have the luxury of facing a quarterback who hasn’t started a game since 2007.

10. (11) 7-4 The Packers defense leads the league in fewest yards allowed per game. The month of December won’t be an easy one for the cheeseheads; Green Bay will play three of its final four games on the road.

11. (15) 7-4 The tough part of the schedule is over for the Broncos. Three of their remaining five games are against the Chiefs (twice) and the Raiders.

12. (14) 5-6 The first team in the NFL to win five straight games after losing the first six. Vince Young finally is developing into a solid quarterback. Young showed how talented he can be when he led the Titans on an incredible final drive to win the game.

13. (10) 6-5 The Steelers can’t afford to lose more than one game in their remaining five. Ben Roethlisberger will be back next week against Oakland and should be ready to lead the Steelers into the playoffs.

14. (17) 6-5 If the Ravens have trouble winning a game against a third-string quarterback, how are they going to do against players such as Peyton Manning, Tom Brady and Ben Roethlisberger on the road in the playoffs?

15. (19) 6-5 Matt Ryan already has been ruled out for Sunday’s big game against the Eagles. The Falcons are about to enter must-win territory and are being forced to do it without their starting quarterback and running back.

16. (12) 6-5 Pathetic performance for the Jaguars against a mediocre 49ers team. The Jags had a great opportunity to greatly improve their chances of making the playoffs, and they came out flat.

17. (13) 6-5 Eli Manning’s foot injury should be a major cause for concern among Giants fans. His foot has bothered him most of the season and it has showed.

18. (16) 5-6 The Texans can compete with the best teams in the league, but they can’t find a way to win.

19. (20) 5-6 Alex Smith was mistake-free on Sunday against the Jaguars and turned in one of his best performances all year.

20. (18) 5-6 Any hopes of making the playoffs went out the door Sunday when the Dolphins lost to the Bills.

21. (23) 5-6 The Jets have some good young talent. Darrelle Revis is the best cornerback in the league.

22. (21) 4-7 Many picked the Bears to win the NFC North before the season started. Twenty Jay Cutler interceptions later, the Bears find themselves out of the playoffs before December rolls around.

23. (28) 4-7 Despite all the adversity, the Bills still managed to upset the Dolphins on Sunday. Buffalo scored an impressive 24 points in the fourth quarter.

24. (24) 3-8 The Redskins have played well their last three games and took the Cowboys and the Eagles to the brink. Washington will face the ultimate test Sunday against the Saints.

25. (22) 4-7 I’m not buying the Jake Delhomme broken finger story. The Panthers are protecting their QB after another embarrassing performance. This is the second time this season Delhomme has thrown four interceptions in one game. I would be shocked to see him touch the field again in 2009.

26. (27) 4-7 It’s about time the Seahawks running game stepped up. The Seahawks can be a solid offensive unit if the run game can contribute and complement the passing game.

27. (25) 3-8 Kansas City is at the bottom of the league in many offensive and defensive categories. Could Charlie Weiss be a solution at offensive coordinator for the Chiefs next year?

28. (26) 3-8 The Raiders are dead last in the NFL with just 10.5 points per game.

29. (29) 1-10 The Rams should be looking for a quarterback come draft day in 2010. Marc Bulger is not the answer, and St.Louis will have a top-three pick to select a franchise QB.

30. (31) 1-10 Josh Freeman has played well since he took over at quarterback. He completed 20-of-29 passes and threw for 250 yards against the Falcons.

31. (30) 2-9 The Lions have given the ball away a total of 26 times this year.

32. (32) 1-10 The misery continues in Cleveland. The Browns lost their best player on defense, lineman Shaun Rogers, on Sunday. This might be a blessing in disguise. The loss of Rodgers could help determine whether the Browns pick first or second in the draft.

Hall of Fame weekend has concluded with a Push between the Bills and Titans and Week 1 exhibition action is up next.

The Tennessee Titans are the favorite on the football betting odds for the Hall of Fame game which marks the start to the NFL preseason.

Buffalo has won 4 of the last 5 meetings between these two NFL teams although it was the Titans who escaped with a close win last time the teams met up in 2006.

Online Sportsbook SPORTSBETTING.com currently has the betting odds showing the Titans -3 and a total of 31.

The betting odds have seen just a tiny bit of movement on the Bills but these lines really haven’t moved much since sportsbetting.com added the NFL preseason betting lines to their available betting options.

These teams have each played in the NFL preseason opening Hall of Fame game twice in their franchise histories but both squads are 0-2 so it appears that someone will finally get the win.  Buffalo coach Dick Jauron holds a 0-1 lifetime record against the Titans while Tennessee coach Jeff Fisher is 5-2 over his coaching career against the Bills.

The betting odds have seen just a tiny bit of movement on the Bills but these lines really haven’t moved much since Bookmaker.com added the NFL preseason betting lines to their available betting options.

Amongst the games in the coming week is a rematch of last year’s Super Bowl between the Arizona Cardinals and Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Steelers are 3-point home favorites and the Total is set at 34 for the game, which takes place this Thursday.

On Monday Night, the Falcons will battle the division rival Saints. The Saints are perfect not only straight up this season, but also come in perfect against the spread at 6-0. The Saints are double digit favorites, with the current line showing a -12 at sports books on the net. The total sits at 55 points, as this game may see some fireworks with two high powered offenses.

BetRepublic.com is the place to find the Monday night NFL Football Betting picks in the Saints vs Falcons game and our 2008 award winner.

The Saints have scored nearly 40 points per game on average. The Falcons are not nearly at that many points on average as they show a low 24 per game on average compared to the Saints. The differential in points scored and allowed shows the Saints at a +18 and Atlanta +5. The betting line shows the near differential in those numbers(13).

As a betting expert, I just can not see Atlanta getting destroyed in a must win division game. On the road or not means nothing in division games. Atlanta has every capability to win this game and I think after the Saints huge comeback win and after the bye, they are way over-valued in this Monday Night contest.

The Falcons have followed up against the spread losses with wins in their following contest. They have been a very reasonable bounce back team, and should put up more than a fight in New Orleans. The Falcons are 8-1 against the spread in their last 9 games following a S.U. loss. The Falcons are 5-1 against the spread in their last 6 games after allowing more than 350 total yards in their previous game. They are also as mentioned solid after an against the spread loss going 8-2 against the spread in their last 10 games following a ATS loss.

NFL football betting future odds, notably we are looking at NFL Team Win Totals, at online sportsbooks hit the board sometime back in May. If you didn’t buy in then, don’t worry, there’s still time to get in your future bets. Smart bettors make sure to get the best numbers possible. It’s important to check the numbers when you’re betting on the NFL.

Betting futures at your online sportsbook through the long, hot days of summer is a good distraction from baseball betting. It takes America’s pastime to the next level. NFL preseason football started with the Hall of Fame game between Tennessee and Buffalo and since then football betting has climbed right back to the top of the gambling chain where it belongs.

Betting activity on Season Win Totals (SWT) hit a new high this year and offshore oddsmakers have had to stay on their toes, adjusting odds daily to keep the balance. Even football bettors that don’t normally make Over/Under bets were poking around and sportsbook managers say it just shows how popular gambling on the sport has become.

If you’re one of the people still on the fence about betting futures, here’s a guideline to which NFL teams have seen the most movement since May. We’ve split the teams into four categories: Up, down, bi-polar, and buy now!

Up

Atlanta Falcons: Matt Ryan had one of the best rookie seasons ever, Michael Turner is a stud, the Falcons made a playoff appearance, and the team’s preseason has been wrinkle free. Take your pick; it all adds up to a pretty package. It has also more than doubled the SWT compared to 2008. Buying “Over” this number is true gambling.

Down

Denver and Tampa Bay are racing to catch St. Louis and Oakland for lowest final total. (Detroit doesn’t count). Bettors have been pounding last year’s biggest losers down all summer. Doesn’t anyone remember the Dolphins?

Check the most recent NFL football betting Odds

Bi-polar

Buffalo Bills: There couldn’t be a more fitting team for this manic department other than the next in line willing to take a shot with Terrell Owens. The hype of signing TO set off a frantic pace of bandwagon bettors and sportsbooks knew they could raise the price. Then everyone seemed to remember what a distraction TO can be and the number came down. When TO showed up and the Bills were getting along nice it crept back up but then preseason started and two things happened. Tom Brady looked amazing and the Bills, well, they just looked like the Bills again.

Buy now!

Arizona did us all a favour by making the Super Bowl last year and Capt. Kurt has done us a service staying healthy through preseason. It stabilized things and bought “Under” bettors some time. If you hurry you can still get in at 8.5!

Football Contests

And for everyone who enjoys free football pick’em contests, be sure to join SPORTSBETTING.com’s two free contest; Pigskin Pick 14 and Gridiron Challenge

You could win a million dollars, weekly prizes and more.
